This past month has definitely felt like WINTER! I have had so much fun creating and implementing winter themed activities into therapy! This week is all about WINTER ANIMALS! In my therapy bag, I have one of my favorite books, The Mitten by Jan Brett. I found these cute story felt pieces on Amazon. The kids can interact with the story with these pieces as we read the book! This book is great for story predictions, labeling, describing, and has a repetitive speech production message "in mitten".
For some more winter animal fun.... let's make the animals a home with some Cra-Z-Snow!! This "homemade" snow is a great sensory play activity! Great for a variety of language modeling: "This feels cold!", "It's fluffy and white". This is also great for following directions: "Let's put the igloo in", "Put the whale in the water". Question answering is another great target for this activity: "Who lives in the igloo?", "Where did the bunny go?". And lastly, this activity is great for just playing! Check it out!
